As part of its on-going training programme, IMRE is increasing its pool of postgraduate students working within the various research programmes at the institute. Currently, IMRE has scholarship schemes with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the National University of Singapore.

• National Science Scholarships

National Science Scholarships (NSS)

NSS is administered by Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). It nurtures Singapore’s bright, young and passionate research talents for the challenges of a research career in Science and Engineering.

Currently there are three scholarships under the NSS scheme.

BS-PhD Scholarship

This scholarship offers support for both undergraduate as well as postgraduate studies up to the PhD level at Selected Overseas Universities.

International Fellowship

Category I

This fellowship offers support for postgraduate students/post-doctoral fellows who are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents currently in top overseas institutions. It is targeted at those who intend to eventually work in Singapore upon completion of their research training.

Category IIA

This fellowship offers overseas research training and attachment opportunities to research scientists and engineers in our local research institutions, universities and hospitals, preferably with at least 2 years of post-doctoral experience.

Category IIB

This category also supports a 2-year Overseas Research Fellowship for medical doctors

Overseas PhD Scholarship

This scholarship offers support for postgraduate research training in various Science, Engineering disciplines at Selected Overseas Universities.
