Conjugated Oligomers - Better Materials for Molecular Electronics
|
IMRE has developed three new types of conjugated oligomers in which different main chain building blocks, different side groups,
and end groups have been incorporated into the oligomeric materials to achieve diversity of functionality for different device applications.

Developing Novel Approaches for Making High Performance Polymer_Clay Nanocomposites
|
IMRE has recently developed novel approaches for the preparation of polymer/clay nanocomposites that overcome the difficulties of
dispersing hydrophilic clay particles in hydrophobic polymer matrices, such as
epoxy, polypropylene, polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, etc.

Tailor-made Amphiphilic Block Copolymers Form Self-assembled Nanostructures
|
IMRE has recently succeeded in designing and synthesising novel amphiphilic PEO-PHB-PEO triblock copolymers by coupling two
chains of methoxy-PEOmonocarboxylic acid with a low molecular weight telechelic hydroxylated PHB (PHB-diol) chain in the middle.

Imprinting of Micro-and Nano-Structures
|
Nanoimprinting lithography is an emerging technology that promises ultra-high resolution,
high throughput and low cost fabrication of nanostructures. Nanoimprinting not only has the
ability to pattern nanoscale features, but is compatible with polymer material processing,
directly creating polymer micro/ nano-structures.

Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxanes (POSS) - Modified Epoxy Resins
|
POSS has garnered wide interest because of these attractive properties - increased thermal stability,
high glass transition temperature, excellent flame and heat resistances. They can be developed for a
host of applications in electronics, photonics and the aerospace industry, to be used as fire retardants,
lubricants for turbine engines and space-capable materials, for example.
