Job Description
This research is dedicated to the development of bioimaging materials for biomedical applications. A specific area of interest within this research is to design new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents which are sensitive to the metabolism of cells to enable accurate diagnosis and prognosis of diseases. MRI is a powerful diagnostic imaging tool because it is noninvasive, and possesses high spatial resolution and multiple physical contrasts.

However, the current MRI technology has exhibited low sensitivity to pathophysiological changes especially in inflammation, degeneration and cancer. Thus better more efficient and smart contrast agents are needed to enhance the MRI’s ability to acquire more information on physiology and metabolism. In addition, the knowledge that we gain from our studies will be utilized for the development of smart drug delivery systems.
